Avalon Beach, New South Wales, Australia is where the extraordinary big surf film director Tim Bonython now calls home.
As a pup Tim spent his earlier years living at Tennyson Beach in South Australia.
Tennyson Beach would lay the foundations that continue to drive Tim toward the ocean today.
Tim is a multi-award-winning surf film Cinematographer and Director.
He is a self-proclaimed ocean lover, swell chasing addict and a definite frother.
For over 40 years Tim has had an undying passion for shooting the big swells and big wave surfing footage.
This footage is extremely epic!

Tim and his beautiful wife Sandrine own and manage ‘Tim Bonython Productions’.
Specialising in cameraman and production services.
In addition, ‘Tim Bonython Productions’ runs the Australian Surf Movie Festival (ASMF).
This is an annual national tour showcasing Tim Bonython Productions latest and greatest independent surf feature films.
Presented throughout clubs, pubs and cinemas Australia wide.
The thing that we love the most about the ASMF tours is that Tim and Sandrine will book out entire theatres across Australia.
Tim will also attend each showing, meet and greet as many people as possible and interact with the crowd..
There are typically awesome giveaways during breaks and it really is a vibe!
Not like your average cinematic experience, it is truly a wonderful and mind blowing event!

Outside of cinematography and chasing swells I am into AFL – Sydney Swans and GWS Giants.
In actual fact I like any other AFL team besides any Melbourne teams haha.
I also love the Speedway, as my Dad owned one and I love surfing of course.
WHO IS YOUR IDOL, HERO? WHO INSPIRES YOU THE MOST?
My Dad who was an absolute legend!
He lived 10 lives in one and he inspired me from the beginning.
Even where we lived which was next to the beach at Tennyson in Adelaide the ocean was and still is my playground.
IF YOU COULD TRAVEL ANYWHERE IN AUSTRALIA WHERE WOULD YOU GO? AND WHY?
The Barrier Reef to document the coral and fish life. But really I already go to some of the best places in the world!
WHAT MOTIVATES YOU EACH AND EVERY DAY?
Life and feeling healthy motivates me. So gym, yoga and surfing are all part of my daily routine.
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO ACCOMPLISH IN YOUR LIFETIME? GOALS?
The Surfing Symphony and making a lot more of my show Swell Chasers with a bigger budget.

I use my North Storm® waterproof backpack for keeping my gear dry and ready to go.
Especially when I need it in wet locations, and out on a boat or ski.
